Residents and commercial motorbike riders (Okada riders) within the Dabir Electoral Area in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Municipality have renewed calls for urgent intervention to address the deteriorating road network affecting the communities of Dabir, Benyadze, and Egyeikrom.

On Sunday morning, members of the Dabir Electoral Area Okada Riders Association voluntarily undertook maintenance works on sections of the road to improve accessibility for commuters and motorists. The initiative follows increasing concerns over the poor state of the road, particularly during the rainy season when traveling becomes extremely difficult and dangerous.

According to the riders, the deplorable condition of the road has resulted in frequent accidents, increased vehicle maintenance costs, and higher transportation fares for passengers. They expressed frustration over what they describe as years of neglect despite numerous appeals to local authorities.

The association is therefore calling on the Member of Parliament, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), and the Assembly Member to urgently address the road crisis, which continues to affect the livelihoods of residents across the three communities.

Speaking during interviews, some riders voiced disappointment in both national and local government authorities, citing the stretch of road from Ayensudo to Benyadze and surrounding communities as one of the worst in the municipality.

“We continue to hear about road construction equipment and development projects, yet we have not seen any significant work carried out on this road. Every day, lives are transported on this road, and its current state poses a serious risk to residents and travelers,” one rider stated.

Residents noted that the situation becomes even worse whenever there is a slight rainfall, leaving sections of the road nearly impassable and affecting economic activities, education, healthcare access, and general movement within the area.

The people of Dabir, Benyadze, and Egyeikrom are therefore appealing to all stakeholders, including political leaders, traditional authorities, and development partners, to treat the road situation as an urgent priority and provide lasting solutions.
