Cape Coast Ecclesiastical Province Catholic Youth Council Holds Provincial Study Session in Saltpond

The Cape Coast Ecclesiastical Province Catholic Youth Council successfully organized its Provincial Study Session at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Saltpond, hosted by the Cape Coast Archdiocese.

The gathering brought together over 40 Catholic youth leaders and representatives from across the province under the theme:“Youth Participation in a Synodal Church: Advancing Justice and Peace in Ghana in the Light of West Africa Youth Days.

”The study session featured a variety of spiritual, intellectual, and social activities, including Holy Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, insightful talks, elections, and other engaging social interactions. The event aimed at fostering formation, leadership development, and unity among Catholic youth.

On the opening day, the Provincial Youth Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Albin Kissi Ernim, warmly welcomed participants and emphasized the mission of Catholic youth within the Church and the province.

During the opening ceremony, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Abbey-Quaye delivered a thought-provoking presentation on the theme, calling on young people to actively participate in the life of the Church. He highlighted the three key pillars of a Synodal Church; Participation, Communion, and Mission and encouraged youth leaders to become agents of justice and peace both in the Church and in Ghana as a whole.

The Provincial Study Session was described as impactful and enriching, bringing together priests, religious, leaders of church societies, representatives from the Ghana National Catholic Youth Council (GHANCYC), youth leaders, and parishioners.

The event concluded with a Thanksgiving Mass, during which the newly elected executives were officially installed, and awards were presented to deserving Catholic youth leaders. This marked a successful and memorable end to the gathering.
